Patrick McVeigh, CEO

McVeigh has over 25 years of senior management experience in the telecommunications, personal computing, and software industries. Prior to joining Soonr, McVeigh was the CEO of PalmSource, Inc. (NASDAQ: PSRC), a global leader in mobile handset operating systems. While at PalmSource, he repositioned the company and transformed it from being a provider of proprietary operating systems to a leadership position in providing open source based Linux operating systems for mobile phones. He led the company through a competitive bidding process, which resulted in the company’s acquisition by ACCESS Company, Ltd. He also served as the CEO of Aliph Corporation, a developer of next-generation audio and speech technologies for mobile communications devices. As founder, Chairman, and CEO of OmniSky Corporation, McVeigh led the development and execution of a service launch that provided wireless data services to carriers such as AT&T Wireless and Verizon within one year of the founding of the business. He raised over $250MM in funding through private offerings and a successful IPO, and subsequently sold the business to Earthlink. Prior to that, he served in a variety of executive sales and marketing roles at both Palm Inc. and Apple Computer.

Martin brings extensive start-up and larger company experience to Soonr. He spent 3 years in various executive positions at enterprise software provider Merant including VP of Development, and was actively involved in selling the company to Serena for about $400 million in 2004. Prior to joining Merant through an acquisition, Martin was at NetObjects for over six years, where he was the VP of R&D since founding and through its IPO in 1999, he was instrumental in defining and creating the company's leading web-authoring product NetObjects Fusion. He was also a principal of Hilltop Software Technologies, a provider of pre-internet communication applications and consulting services. Prior to that, Martin spent ten years at Borland International in senior engineering and program management positions. Products included Sidekick 1.0 & 2.0, the company's hit personal information organizer that created a new market category, Personal Information Management. Martin is a named inventor on four (4) U.S. Patents related to data synchronization and web authoring technologies.

Most recently Steven was Senior Director at Merant (now Serena) responsible for the company's web content management offering Collage and the company's next generation change management products. Prior to that Steven was Senior Director of Engineering at NetObjects, creators of Fusion, a category defining web-design product. Before NetObjects, Steven was Director of Engineering for Borland's highly acclaimed Quattro Pro Windows product (acquired by Novell) and also worked on Sidekick - an award winning personal organizer. Steven is a named inventor for six (6) patents for software innovations related to data synchronization, content management, spreadsheet technology, and web-design.

Jonathan Wood is a recognized sales leader with over 17 years experience working in the telecommunications industry creating value, building successful sales and business development operations and driving new customer acquisition.
Jonathan has held senior management positions with GEC Siemens, Philips Electronics, AT&T, Lucent, Openwave, Palmsource, and was a General Manager and VP Business Development for Access Systems of Japan.
Having extensive experience within the wireless industry, Jonathan has a unique blend of experience selling high value “solution” based deals directly to Communication Service Providers and indirectly, working with Network Equipment Providers, Systems Integrators and Device Manufacturers.
Jonathan has held GM, SVP and Regional VP positions at several companies that possess a global list of customers. He has helped them repeatedly achieve successful growth. Jonathan has a strong leadership style with a strong focus on customer satisfaction as the key to his success.

Previously serving in executive positions at Mediabolic, a digital media platform developer. Song was responsible for defining the award winning M1 platform powering many of today's digital media devices, including the winner of Best of Show at CES in 2003. He is a named inventor of a technology patent covering networked media devices. Song has founded three Internet focused companies: PriceRadar, an auction information mining technology, sold to EBAY; Passky, a smartcard based security solution, sold to PubliCard; and, QuickSite, a database driven web site generation tool, sold to Site Technologies. In addition, he served as Director of Marketing at Frame Technology (acquired by Adobe Systems) and held senior product management positions at Borland International. He was instrumental in creating category defining products such as Quattro Pro spreadsheet and dBase for Windows, a relational database system.
Lars Gunnersen, VP of Engineering

Most recently Lars was the head of the next generation change management server at Merant (now Serena). Before that Lars led the development of Merant Collage, a leading Web content management product that was acquired from NetObjects. At CRIMP, a provider of ATC systems for the worlds major airports, Lars led initial development and became head of development. Lars held various engineering positions at Borland focusing on communication related technologies.
Peter Engelbrecht, VP of Business Development

Peter Engelbrecht directs partnership efforts with companies that possess huge brand recognition and add to Soonr's mission to acquire new users around the world. Peter brings extensive executive experience to Soont, across both early stage startups and Fortune50 corporations. Most recently Peter was Director of Business Development for Intel's Wireless Networking Group (NASDAQ: INTC), where he led the business development group for Intel's Wi-Fi and WiMAX initiatives driving major partnerships and industry standard initiatives. Prior to Intel, Peter managed marketing for venture funded startup WireCache a database technology company. Before WireCache, Peter was in charge of the marketing and product management teams for Intel's Ethernet Switching business unit, and also worked on Intel's high volume Fast Ethernet NIC product line where he was European Marketing Manager. Before Intel, Peter held sales and marketing positions with Danware, a Remote Control Software vendor.

William Stewart, Founder Asia Pacific Ventures and Chairman, SandHill Capital

Mr. Stewart is the founder and President of Asia Pacific Ventures and has advised over 200 U.S. venture backed IT start-up companies in the Japan/Asia marketplace, raising more than $2 billion in equity, debt and joint venture financing over the past 14 years. Mr. Stewart is also the founding General Partner of APV Technology Partners I, II and III with over $200 million in early stage venture funding under management. Prior to founding the Asia Pacific Venture companies, Mr. Stewart was a senior executive for NEC in Japan.
In addition, Mr. Stewart is both an investor and Chairman of Sand Hill Capital based in Menlo Park, CA. Sand Hill Capital specializes in providing both debt and equity financing to venture backed IT companies. Mr. Stewart is also a co-Founder and Managing Director of the Sand Hill Capital Sakura Fund which provides equity financing to the Sand Hill Capital portfolio of companies.
William Quigley, Managing Director, Clearstone Venture Partners

William focuses on Clearstone's communications investments. His areas of investment interest include broadband wireless enabling technologies, operational support systems and communications service innovators. William joined Clearstone Venture Partners in February 1999 from Mid-Atlantic Venture Funds, where he invested in early stage communications companies targeting the software, equipment and service sectors. At MAVF, he was responsible for investments in Integrated Chipware, a real time embedded OS developer, Wisor Telecom, an OSS vendor to telecom service providers and NexTone Communications, a manufacturer of voice over IP equipment.
Prior to MAVF, William spent six years in a variety of business planning and operational roles at The Walt Disney Company. His work at Disney included designing field operation and sales support systems for several of the company's largest divisions. William also co-managed Disney's merchant banking group where he negotiated and structured equity positions in the company's strategic licensees.
Prior to Disney, William was a Senior Consultant with Arthur Andersen's Financial Services Group where he developed financial and business strategies for a wide range of companies in the media and communications and financial services industries.
William received his MBA, with distinction, from Harvard Business School, and holds a BS, with honors, from the University of Southern California. He is a Kauffman Fellow.
William represents Clearstone Venture Partners' interests in its investments in AOptix Technologies, Crimson Microsystems, IntegriNautics, Meru Networks, PeopleSupport, and Phasebridge.
David Stern, Venture Partner, Clearstone Venture Partners

David Stern serves as a Venture Partner at Clearstone where he focuses on developing investment opportunities at the intersection of consumer technology and media.
Prior to Clearstone, David was President and Founder of M Networks, an educational media company focused on providing practical business technology education to small businesses and entrepreneurs. Previous to founding M Networks, David was a licensing lawyer and a business development executive at Universal Studios, working with children's entertainment properties, and was an entrepreneur at the idealab! family of companies. He has also held management positions at leading health care software companies Model N and Veranto, and was an investment banker at Presidio Financial Partners.
David is a graduate of Cornell University and currently sits as an advisor to UTEK Corporation (UTK), a leading intellectual property business development firm and Campus Books Inc., the leading online comparative shopping site for the college market. |
